The Good Samaritan

Yesterday I was on the T train on Third Street, going northbound towards Sunnydale and Bayshore and as many people know it's not a good neighborhood. In fact, about a year ago people were getting robed by kids, yet my reason I take the T-line is because it’s one train ride and the fastest way to get to Year Up or home. So one day, going back home I saw something's truly amazing that I thought wasn't possible in any neighborhood. I saw a good Samaritan which inspired me to throw away selfish ideas and be that same good Samaritan for the rest of the day. How this came about is when I was sitting and listening to my music while waiting for my stop, was noticing a little girl holding a happy birthday balloon with two ladies taking her somewhere. I did not mind to smile and wonder what she might get for her birthday, however, at the same time I saw an old person wearing a red t-shirt and blue jeans with red on them which left me uneasy. This left me concerned about my own safety than a little girl’s birthday. Long behold my beliefs, the “gangster” came closer to me and the little girl and gave her a five dollar bill. I was astonished and at aw, because he changed my ideology of how people really are and influenced my thought of real genuine people. The next couple of train stops felt compelled to do good for the rest of the day. As a result I gave my seat for a lady with a child and picked up something for an old lady that lived in front of a wealthy looking home. The funny aspect that occurred after I helped the old lady is when she said, “thanks a million”.
