The Frozen Assets

Looking at the Frozen Assets mural by Diego Rivera and the Occupy Movement, I definitely see a connection of separation. I see this in both ideas because both are stating there is America literally on top the actual America. The specific example of this would be the Occupy Movement’s slogan, “We are the 99%” because the one percent of Americans “run” Americans verses the people living in the world. Another example would be from Rivera’s mural having an upper part of the mural with buildings the upper-class decided to have and the lower part with homelessness and empty banks that the lower-class had to live though. In addition to separation, the mural shows a different color design which has brighter colors on the upper part of the mural while the lower part is made with dark colors.  For this reason, I suspect that back then people were dirt poor and while the wealthy people are making the big changes to the world; bring different colors to America. I also see this same color design with the Occupy Movement having the upper-class people wearing plain dark business colors and the lower-class wearing more colorful attire. As a result, in the 80 years of the same dilemma, I see how back then and today, the upper-class people are doing things without everyone’s involvement and having the lower-class deal with the consequences.  However, both parties did construct inspiration for both generations by creating a revolutionary idea of change. This is a reality of upper-class people is becoming a lifestyle no one can fit and causing the lower-class to suffer with debt.

The Good Samaritan

Yesterday I was on the T train on Third Street, going northbound towards Sunnydale and Bayshore and as many people know it's not a good neighborhood. In fact, about a year ago people were getting robed by kids, yet my reason I take the T-line is because it’s one train ride and the fastest way to get to Year Up or home. So one day, going back home I saw something's truly amazing that I thought wasn't possible in any neighborhood. I saw a good Samaritan which inspired me to throw away selfish ideas and be that same good Samaritan for the rest of the day. How this came about is when I was sitting and listening to my music while waiting for my stop, was noticing a little girl holding a happy birthday balloon with two ladies taking her somewhere. I did not mind to smile and wonder what she might get for her birthday, however, at the same time I saw an old person wearing a red t-shirt and blue jeans with red on them which left me uneasy. This left me concerned about my own safety than a little girl’s birthday. Long behold my beliefs, the “gangster” came closer to me and the little girl and gave her a five dollar bill. I was astonished and at aw, because he changed my ideology of how people really are and influenced my thought of real genuine people. The next couple of train stops felt compelled to do good for the rest of the day. As a result I gave my seat for a lady with a child and picked up something for an old lady that lived in front of a wealthy looking home. The funny aspect that occurred after I helped the old lady is when she said, “thanks a million”.
